Additional Developments for 2008

1. AIP Package Subscriptions renamed

In order to avoid confusion with our new AIP Digital Archive purchase option, we have changed the names of the AIP Archival and AIP Archival Plus package subscriptions. The new package names are AIP Select and AIP Complete. The content of each package will remain the same, as indicated below:

AIP Select (formerly AIP Archival):

  • Applied Physics Letters
  • Chaos
  • Journal of Applied Physics
  • The Journal of Chemical Physics
  • Journal of Mathematical Physics
  • Physics of Fluids
  • Physics of Plasmas
  • Physics Today
  • Review of Scientific Instruments

AIP Complete (formerly AIP Archival Plus) - includes titles in AIP Select, plus the following:

  • AIP Conference Proceedings
  • Journal of Physical & Chemical Reference Data (co-published with NIST)
  • Low Temperature Physics
AIP Archival customers will automatically be renewed to AIP Select, and AIP Archival Plus customers will be renewed to AIP Complete. All available backfiles will continue to be included in package subscriptions. Please contact us if you have questions.

2. AIP maintains tier assignments

In 2008, all AIP journal customers will maintain their 2007 tier assignment. If you have questions regarding your institution’s AIP tier, please contact us. A full description of our tiering methodology is found here.

3. Physics Today adds backfile content

We have digitized an additional 15 years of Physics Today, so that institutional subscribers who choose this option will have access from 1985 to all but the most recent 12 months of the magazine; current contents remain a benefit to member subscribers. Physics Today subscribers can add this 22 years of online backfile to their 2008 subscription for US$170. The PT backfile is included in the AIP Select and AIP Complete combination subscriptions; the backfile is also available as a separate online-only subscription. AIP plans to digitize all issues back to the magazine’s launch in 1948, eventually creating a complete Physics Today digital archive.

4. Backfile enhancements

Reference links are being added to the backfiles of AIP archival journals. In 2008, all abstracts back to 1984 will include these links to cited articles.

Additional subscription options

1. Two AIP Journals offer selected content in separate formats

JCP: BioChemical Physics provides, in an online-only format, all articles from the Journal of Chemical Physics (JCP) that focus on biochemical-related topics. Applied Physics Reviews, long a distinct section within Journal of Applied Physics (JAP), now has a separate online-only subscription. (Subscribers to JCP and JAP will continue to receive all this content with their regular subscriptions.) Applied Physics Reviews includes a backfile of review articles back to 1980.

2. Topical collections available from AIP Conference Proceedings

Several topical subseries within the AIP Conference Proceedings program are available as separate online-only subscriptions. Subseries include Accelerators and Beams; Astronomy & Astrophysics; Atomic, Molecular, and Optical Physics; Nuclear & High Energy Physics; Mathematical and Statistical Physics; Plasma Physics; and Materials Physics & Applications. Each series includes all published content from 2000 to the present.

If you have a question regarding your institution’s AIP tier assignment, or about the prices posted, please contact subs@aip.org or call 1-800-344-6902.

We look forward to serving you in the new subscription year.
